You'll be checking into a beautiful Maryland View room at the Gaylord National on Friday afternoon, and then head into the city for some night time fun! The Washington DC Monument Lights Tour by Minibus will take you to many of the major sights in the nation's capital with an experienced tour guide to narrate. You'll hop off at each stop to discover each attraction's history!

Cruise to Mount Vernon on Saturday and learn what life was like in the eighteenth century! You'll get to explore George Washington's home and estate, everything from the museum to the gardens. You'll also enjoy the relaxing cruise to the destination; getting there is half the fun!

Itinerary:

Friday: Washington DC Monument Lights Tour by Minibus - Hop aboard the Washington DC Monument Lights Tour! The tour begins at 7:00 pm, hotel pick-up is not included. You will be responsible for providing your own transportation to the departure point, approximately 15-25 minutes away (time may vary due to traffic). You may also take the metro, there are several stops close by (Federal Triangle, Metro Center, and Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter). The hotel also has shuttles that run to the DC area, additional fees apply. This minibus excursion around DC features sightseeing at popular monuments and memorials lit up at night! There are nine planned stops. The tour guides will hop off with you at each stop to provide explanations about each attraction's history. You'll get an insider's tour of DC on a minibus rather than a large coach or double-decker, allowing more intimate communication with your tour guide. That environment encourages you to ask questions and truly learn about Washington while you are on the tour. Your guide will stay with you the entire time - even when you get off to look at and hear about the attractions. There is complimentary bottled water and soda available onboard. Stops include: Old Post Office, US Capitol Building, World War II Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, and the White House. You are certain to have an unforgettable evening exploring DC!
Please Note: Bags or carry-on items of any kind, other than small purses, small camera bags, and shopping bags from purchases made on the tour, are strongly discouraged. Please refrain from bringing larger bags, as they may be searched for security purposes and service may be denied. Itinerary is subject to change due to inclement weather, landmark closings, city festivals/parades, and/or traffic conditions.

Saturday: Mount Vernon Cruise & Tour from Washington DC - Set sail to George Washington's home and estate! Hotel pick-up is not included, so you will be responsible for providing your own transportation to the boarding pier at the waterfront in SW Washington. The cruise departs at 8:30 am and you must arrive for boarding by 8:00 am. Please allow appropriate travel time (15-20 minutes, depending on traffic). The closest Metro stop is the Waterfront Metro Station if you wish to use public transportation, or there is a shuttle service offered by the hotel for an additional fee. Enjoy riding aboard DC's only direct cruise to the home of George Washington. You can have breakfast or lunch on board! The snack bar features pastries, muffins, bagels, hot dogs, pizza, chips, candy, ice cold beer, soda, juice, bottled water, and more. The entire tour will take about 6.5 hours and you will have 3 hours to see the estate. Located in suburban Virginia near Alexandria, Mount Vernon was first opened to the public in 1860. The estate consists of the mansion house, slave quarters, kitchen, stables, a greenhouse, and several gardens. Owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, Mount Vernon has been preserved so that you may enjoy many of the structures and gardens just as they were in 1799. Explore the museum and learn about the history of our first president as you discover life in the eighteenth century. You'll love spending the day visiting Mount Vernon!
